The Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park

Your family's adventure begins! Our driver-guide will pick you up in Nairobi and drive southeast to Tsavo West. Entering the park, the kids will love the dramatic, rugged scenery. We arrive at your choice of Severin Safari Camp or Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge for a hot lunch. After relaxing, we head out for a late afternoon game drive to spot resident leopards, buffalos, and rhinos at the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary.

Day 2: Exploring Mzima Springs & Tsavo West

A fantastic day for families! After breakfast, we visit Mzima Springs. Here, you can leave the vehicle and take a guided nature walk—a perfect way for kids to stretch their legs. The underwater viewing chamber offers a magical, aquarium-like view of hippos and crocodiles swimming in the crystal-clear water. We’ll enjoy an afternoon game drive exploring the ancient lava flows.

Day 3: Tsavo West to Amboseli National Park

After a morning game drive and breakfast, we depart Tsavo West and drive toward Amboseli National Park. The majestic Mount Kilimanjaro will guide us to our next luxurious home, the Oilepo Amboseli Lodge. After lunch and a swim in the pool, we venture into the park to witness the massive, free-roaming elephant families that make Amboseli famous.

Day 4: Full Day with the Giants of Amboseli

Wake up to spectacular views of a cloudless Mount Kilimanjaro. Today we spend a full day exploring Amboseli's diverse habitats. We’ll drive up to Observation Hill, where the family can safely step out of the vehicle and enjoy panoramic views of the swamps below—watching elephants bathe and hippos wallow. It’s an incredibly active ecosystem that keeps kids engaged all day long.

Day 5: Amboseli to the Great Rift Valley (Lake Naivasha)

We leave the dusty plains behind and ascend into the lush Great Rift Valley, arriving at the freshwater paradise of Lake Naivasha in time for lunch. In the afternoon, the family will enjoy a thrilling boat ride on the lake, gliding past pods of grunting hippos and fish eagles swooping down for a catch. We can also include an optional walking safari on Crescent Island, walking safely alongside giraffes and zebras.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha to the World-Famous Masai Mara

After breakfast, we drive further west, climbing the escarpment and descending into the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve. We arrive at your chosen camp or lodge for lunch. The Masai Mara is the crown jewel of Kenyan safaris. We’ll head out for our first afternoon game drive, tracking prides of lions, cheetahs, and massive herds of plains game across the rolling savannah.

Day 7: Full Day in the Masai Mara

A full day to truly immerse your family in the wild! With a flexible schedule, we can take a packed lunch for a full-day exploration all the way to the Mara River, or break up the day with morning and afternoon drives, returning to the lodge for a midday swim and relaxation. Our guides are experts at spotting the Big Five and keeping younger travelers entertained with tracking techniques and bush lore.

Day 8: Masai Mara to Nairobi

After one final, sunrise game drive to catch the big cats while they are active, we enjoy a hearty family breakfast. We then check out and begin our scenic drive back to Nairobi. We will drop your family at your hotel or the airport, leaving you with spectacular photographs and stories to share for a lifetime.
